History of the Family Firm

William D. Witter
Founder (1929-2003)

William D. Witter founded the firm in 1977 and laid the cornerstone of what is now a $1.1B (as of December 1, 2006) asset management firm. William D. Witter was the son of Dean Witter, the famed Wall Street investor and founder of the blue-chip brokerage firm Dean Witter, Inc. The firm attracted and served high-net worth clients, family members, and select institutional clients with personalized and leading investment advice.

Now beginning on the firm's fourth decade, Michael D. Witter, son of William D. Witter, continues the legacy in successful stock-picking. One of the many data points that would support this tried and true methodology can be found in the net worth of the Witter progeny. The wealth of the children of Bill Witter has not only been preserved, but has grown under the watchful eye of diligent management. Michael D. Witter and his team continue their endeavor to provide superior client care and portfolio management.

Under Michael D. Witter’s direction the firm is building upon its valued client base by opening up its asset management services to a wider audience of foundations and institutions domestically and abroad. The descendants of the founder have continued to invest in the firm serving as a foundation for stability and a driving force behind the culture of client service. Michael D. Witter continues to maintain and grow the loyal following of high-net-worth families and individuals. As a family-owned firm, capital preservation and building generational wealth is one our top priorities. We think of our clients as family.

The Michael D. Witter Foundation and William D. Witter Memorial Internship Program was established in 2007 in loving memory of Bill Witter's generosity in teaching and encouraging the growth of young stock pickers.
