Overview

The William D. Witter Memorial Internship Program is designed to give exceptional students from top-tier institutions meaningful exposure to the financial services industry by placing them in a highly competitive internship at a leading Wall Street Investment Management Firm. At this firm they be given significant responsibility and will be exposed to all facets of the business. This program was created in honor of William D. Witter, the son of Dean Witter and the founder of the firm that shares his namesake. William Witter truly believed in mentoring aspiring young managers and many, most notably Mario Gabelli, blossomed under his tutelage. It is the mission of the Michael D. Witter Foundation to carry on this tradition and to give bright young people the opportunity to learn from leaders in the industry.

Mentoring

Each intern will be assigned a manager to whom they will directly report. In addition, in the spirit of William Witter, each intern will be assigned a mentor. This person will be a senior member of the firm and will be responsible for monitoring the progress of his or her intern and also should be available to offer advice and to answer any questions that might arise. This will give the interns access to members at the highest level of the firm, will help them to grow and will provide a unique learning opportunity.
